Part 4 - Set manual IP address

To easily access your local area connection, type in the command ncpa.cpl on command prompt and hit enter.

-          Right-click on local area connection and click Properties. While you do this just make sure your LAN is enabled, if it is already enabled then it shows a disable option - refer below pic

-          Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4),and then click Properties.

-          Click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address 192.168.1.50 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and Default gateway 192.168.1.1 . The IP need not be 50 itself, you can enter any number between 2 and 254

-          Click ok and exit from these settings.

Now repeat the previous step again (ping 192.168.1.1) and see if you are getting a proper response or not. If its is still giving you 100% loss, you can reset the router as mentioned in the next article
